Babies
This is a very relaxed, emotive style of photography, capturing the intimacy of your relationship in a timeless style.
Children
Kids often tell the story themselves though their play and natural energy. Most of my work with children and families is reportage based, capturing those special moments as they happen. However, depending on your child and your taste, it can be really great to create some more ’posed’ images, similar to those seen in advertisements.
Best of Both Worlds
This new concept was inspired by my daughter. She just loves to dress up, unzip my make-up bag and dig in. We have so much fun with colours, clothes and hairstyles. Sometimes it would be nice to capture us looking beautiful even though there’s no special occasion and we just felt like getting all dressed up.
The most important thing to remember is that your children will not necessarily behave how you expect them to, or want them to! I have young children of my own, so I know that meeting strangers can be really worrying for them. Please don’t worry about how they behave in front of me! When I meet your child for the first time, they may feel scared and apprehensive about the photo-shoot. Our relationship will be built on trust as we get to know each other. Later on, during the shoot, I’ll want to capture the ‘real them’, no cheesy grins or scared-bunny eyes!!
Creating photo-shoot paradise!:
I usually photograph babies in your home as this is a comfy and warm environment for them. Children generally love to go out on location but please pack some old shoes as we are bound to find mud!
It is useful to book the time of the photo-shoot to suit your child. The best time for this is often after they have had a nap.
It’s a good idea to bring your child’s favourite toy or comforter with you. Although they are to help your child relax, they can also look fantastic in images, creating a memento of your child’s favourite toy at that time. Bringing a drink or bottle of milk, as well as some treats, is also really helpful.
